I think I'm starting to hate Flame Princess...

Journal Entry: Thu Mar 7, 2013, 8:53 PM
You know why?
Because I think she ruined Princess Bubblegum and Marceline's relationship with Finn and Jake.

I was looking at a clip of this episode today: www.youtube.com/watch?v=BMA26B… that was one of my most favorite episodes of Adventure Time of all time! It showed how great friends they were. That's right....I said were. They barely show many episodes with PB or Marcy in them anymore. It seems to focus now more on Finn and Jake on their adventures. I know it's not probably ALL her fault, but I do believe it is her fault. It seems like ever since Flame Princess came in the picture, things between the guys and girls start to change. It seems that Finn doesn't like PB (as a friend) that much anymore and ever since "Daddy's Little Monster", Marceline doesn't hang out with Finn and Jake anymore (she even said herself around the ending that she wasn't going to hang out with Finn anymore). I mean, Marceline could have been kidding, but look at the facts? Did you see her hanging out with them every since that episode?

And the Relationship with Finn and PB hasn't been better:( But hey, this one, I really don't entirely blame Flame Princess for. I think it's PB's fault. She hurt Finn and caused him to go in depression. So Jake went to find him someone his age to be with, he did, she seemed to be evil, and she really wasn't and dada dada da....

My point is, PB rejected Finn and he was sad, but now he is finally happy again now not only he has found someone, but someone his age. But then again, I don't blame PB either. She is 18 years old and Finn was young for her. Pen probably thought it was best if Finn had someone his age to hangout (and be soul mates) with instead. I mostly agree with that, but what makes me mad is that the relationship between Finn, Jake, and the girls is over because of Finn's relationship with Flame Princess T_T Sometimes, I hate change...

I don't know if I hate Flame Princess or not, but I hate her for what she didů

I used to like Adventure Time, but when Flame Princess came into the picture, I started to not like it as much. I just think that the writers jumped the shark when the added Flame Princess in. But, that's just my opinion.

Have you seen Vault of Bones? They enjoy completely different things. They are a bad match and the relationship was based on silly things anyway. I'm not suggesting that Finn never liked her, that's a big assumption. But he was fairly upset and desperate at the time he met her. Plus seeing that she was a 'girl' was apparently good enough for him. I'm thinking of Incendium. Without knowing her, how can he truly like her, without projection? And if that's the case then how can he like, HER? As in who she is?
It's a very bad lesson for people btw. If you're sad just go grab someone anyone etc.. Flame princess is a rebound if I ever saw one.
And I am sick and f*ing tired of the Bubblegum rageboners. She did nothing wrong. She simply didn't want to be with Finn. Why is this her fault? As if she could have chosen to be interested in him. This show has no clue how to represent girls. I mean we're never gonna get to see things from the girls perspective are we? But then again what show even does that anyway? So maybe we can't give AT too hard a time about that one, can we?

I definitely agree with you about missing the close friendship between Finn, Jake, Bubblegum, and Marceline. "What Was Missing" was one of my favorite episodes (although part of the reason for that may be because I am a Bubbline shipper through and through).
However, I would not go so far as to blame this on Flame Princess, nor would I say that she lends nothing to the show. I do agree that she is somewhat one-dimensional. The writers seem to have tried to add some dimension to her character by creating a conflict between the "evil" she was raised with and seems to tend naturally toward, and the "good" that she often strives for, but I think that attempt fell somewhat short.
But I think Flame Princess (and especially her relationship with Finn) has the potential to create a very interesting dynamic. A potential which, unfortunately, the show has yet to realize. Finn is sort of the embodiment of "good." His foremost purpose is to help others. And, while he is somewhat unruly, he is largely rule-abiding. Flame Princess, on the other hand, is constantly teetering on the edge of chaos, and in a continuous battle between her "good" side and her "evil" side. I think that this dichotomy could create an interesting dynamic between the two, one which would allow further exploration of both characters, but unfortunately I don't think that it has been explored to the depth or extent that it could be.

I agree, the episode "What was Missing" was my favorite as it centered around the 5 main characters and added lifelike conflict. Marceline is my favorite character and the fact that she isn't in many of the new episodes bothers me. Flame Princess is slowly pushing Marceline and Bubblegum out of the picture, and if this continues, I might stop watching Adventure Time altogether.

I think Flame Princess is entirely too one dimensional. Especially when you compare her to Marceline and PB. Idk why she is popular because she adds NOTHING to the show. Just freaking romance. Her role is just limited to be Finn's girlfriend. The moment she was introduced she was pretty much MADE just to be Finn’s girlfriend, and that is all she is now. There wasn't any time to build any chemistry either. After she was introduced leaving him, flash forward to her next episode and already they made up? How random. It makes the relationship even more cringe worthy.

Basically i think shes just a love interest gone wrong and her fans totally like her for shallow reasons (aka her design, shes made of fire, saving Finn from a broken heart, PB is a bitch.... blah blah blah blah)

There is not much to like about a character who has been in so few episodes apart from those reasons. I'M SURE OF IT.

I couldn't agree more. You put into words what I was thinking perfectly. I think it would've been cool to see some episodes of her before Finn met her. I know she's been trapped in that lamp, but my memory is a little foggy on the whole thing. It might be cool to see how she got imprisoned, or her life before being trapped? Just my thoughts.

I think the creators are listening a little too much to what the fans have to say. All they want is a fully developed relationship right away. It's good to listen to fans, but not this much...

Personally, I don't see what she really adds to the show. FP is boring, she just does the same old thing over and over. She hangs out with Finn, something happens, she loses her rag, Finn tells her to calm down and usually ends up with some nasty burns in the process. That's another thing, how can Finn have a meaningful relationship with FP when he can't even touch her? They're like Gambit and Rogue, even if she has feelings she can never actually touch Finn without hurting him. There's also the issue of PB, not that I'm some rabid shipper, but her character has suffered I think due to the introduction of FP. She was basically vilified in order to introduce this new princess and I don't agree with it. Before FP she was sweet, inteligent, and quirky. She even saved Finn's bacon a couple of times, and sacrificed her own happiness for the good of the Candy Kingdom. Then all of a sudden she's "that bitch that broke Finn's heart" and this hot new princess (no pun intended) comes to immediately heal his pain. Why does Finn need a relationship? He's a hero, he shouldn't be tied down anyhow. He should be having adventures, hence the name of the show.

sounds like you're just using Flame Princess as a scapegoat for the direction the show is going in. I mean sure Finn isn't trying to impress or flirt with Bubblegum anymore but he still does missions for her and pretty much hangs out in the Candy Kingdom far more than any other place in Ooo.

As for Marceline I think they are pushing the Marcy and Ice King relationship. After the episode 'I remember you' we saw that Simon (Ice King) rescued Marcy during or after the Mushroom War. Now Marcy wants to save him from his madness. She even goes as far as to write her own Fionna and Cake story. Which is probably the real reason she hasn't been hanging out with Finn in awhile.
